If I do not like my current business energy supplier(s) and I contact you – can you switch me to another provider with immediate effect?
No, unfortunately not unless you are currently out of contract or opening up a new business. Business gas and electricity contracts are legally binding and cannot be cancelled until they expire or a new tenant or occupier takes over the premises. Water contracts are usually a little less binding, however you may have an exit penalty to pay for leaving them early and the amount typically depends on how long you were in the contract and receiving a discount for - prior to the termination.
Why come to you and not directly to the suppliers?
We brokers typically have access to cheaper deals than consumers can find themselves due to bulk-buying power. Working with so many suppliers in the market means that we can push all the harder to secure the best prices.
What is the Letter of Authority (LOA) for?
This enables me to work on your behalf – from obtaining all the information I need in order to carry out quotations to submitting contracts and even any after sales customer service requirements (yes – I am with you for any queries or issues throughout!) LOAs are usually valid for 12 months at a time.
Do I need to cancel my current contracts?
No, I will handle everything on your behalf. Even better – in most cases termination notice is no longer required! It really is much easier than it used to be.
How does the transfer work?
Once you apply for your new contract with one of our partner suppliers and it’s accepted and fully locked in – the service will be scheduled to switch on the appropriate day after your current contract has expired. It is a fully automated process and generally speaking, could not be easier. Sometimes hiccups can occur, but these are usually quickly resolved e.g. a mix up or miscommunication with a current contract expiry date or an outstanding balance that needs to be addressed. This can usually be done by way of setting up a payment plan if required. New water contracts are similar and usually take around 3 weeks to transfer from one supplier to another.
Do I need to set up a Direct Debit?
The short answer is no because other payment options are usually available. However you are guaranteed to pay more because most suppliers offer the best prices to those who pay via Direct Debit. And aren’t utilities currently expensive enough without paying even more?!
